Abstract

Increased speed at which business processes, government services, financial systems, and critical infrastructure throughout the United States have been digitalized has increased the significance of cybersecurity in ensuring sensitive information and resiliency of organizations. Artificial Intelligence (AI), in its turn, has become a disruptive technology, which can be used to counter cyberattacks better, and that is, by predictively identifying the threat, whose predictive analytics, automatic response systems, and adaptive security systems can be used. The paper will critically analyze the dynamic nature of AI in cybersecurity, and how it has performed in the aspects of privacy of data, as well as curbed the emerging cyber threats in the digital environment of the U.S. Through a qualitative review approach, the paper summarizes the current literature, industry reports and real life cases on AI-driven cybersecurity applications. The results show that AI is a strong partner to cybersecurity through real-time detection of intrusions, prevention of phishing, malware analysis, detection of fraud and prediction of threats. Moreover, AI-based security systems allow the organization to be more agile since it will automatize the daily security processes and accelerate the reaction to the incidents. Nevertheless, it is also shown that serious challenges that are connected with the adversarial AI, deepfake technologies, automated cyberattacks, and algorithmic bias, as well as privacy breaches and the limitation of governance are also present in the study. The population of bad actors that have been embracing AI has continued to increase and the cyber space arena has become diverse and the defenses and the offensive are being developed on an ever increasing basis. The paper highlights how responsible design of AI, sound regulation policies, international cooperation and human control can be employed in the responsible implementation of intelligent security technologies. The paper concludes that even though AI is a major part of the future of the cybersecurity policy, the success of AI in the future depends on the ability to balance innovation, privacy, transparency, and security governance. Policymakers, cybersecurity professionals and managers of organizations can use the findings to enhance the digital resilience of their organizations within a more connected world.
