COPE Compliance Statement

The Journal of Computational Systems & Engineering Insights (JCSEI) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and follows the principles and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal expects editors, reviewers, authors, and publishers to uphold integrity, transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct throughout the publication process.

Editorial Responsibilities

The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board evaluate submitted manuscripts solely on the basis of their academic merit, originality, scientific quality, methodological rigor, and relevance to the journal's scope. Editorial decisions are made without discrimination based on race, gender, nationality, religion, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs. Editors ensure that the peer review process is fair, unbiased, confidential, and free from conflicts of interest.

Editors will:

  • Maintain confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts.
  • Ensure impartial and timely peer review.
  • Prevent conflicts of interest in editorial decisions.
  • Address allegations of research misconduct promptly.
  • Correct, retract, or withdraw published articles when necessary.

Author Responsibilities

Authors submitting manuscripts to JCSEI must ensure that:

  • Their work is original and has not been published or submitted elsewhere simultaneously.
  • All sources are properly cited and acknowledged.
  • Data presented are accurate, authentic, and honestly reported.
  • Fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate publication, and data manipulation are strictly prohibited.
  • All listed authors have made significant scholarly contributions to the research.
  • Any financial support or potential conflicts of interest are fully disclosed.
  • Necessary ethical approvals and participant consent have been obtained for research involving human participants or animals.

Authors are responsible for correcting significant errors discovered after publication by notifying the editorial office immediately.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Peer reviewers play a vital role in maintaining publication quality. Reviewers are expected to:

  • Review manuscripts objectively, fairly, and constructively.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Identify relevant published work not cited by the authors.
  • Report suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, or ethical concerns.
  • Decline review invitations when conflicts of interest exist.
  • Complete reviews within the agreed timeline.

Reviewers must not use unpublished information obtained through peer review for personal advantage.

Publisher Responsibilities

The publisher supports editorial independence and ensures that editorial decisions remain free from commercial or financial influence. The publisher works closely with editors to maintain ethical publishing standards and to address any allegations of misconduct in accordance with COPE recommendations.

Research Misconduct

JCSEI has zero tolerance for research misconduct, including but not limited to:

  • Plagiarism
  • Self-plagiarism
  • Duplicate submission
  • Duplicate publication
  • Data fabrication
  • Data falsification
  • Image manipulation
  • Citation manipulation
  • Authorship manipulation
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest

Any allegation of misconduct will be investigated following COPE guidelines. Appropriate actions may include manuscript rejection, publication of corrections, article retraction, notification of authors' institutions, or reporting to relevant funding agencies.

Plagiarism Policy

All submitted manuscripts are screened using recognized plagiarism detection software before peer review. Manuscripts containing unacceptable levels of similarity, plagiarism, or improperly attributed content will be rejected. Authors are expected to ensure proper citation of all referenced materials.

Conflict of Interest

Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the research, review process, or editorial decisions. Where conflicts exist, appropriate measures will be taken to preserve the integrity of the publication process.

Data Integrity and Reproducibility

Authors should maintain original research data and provide them upon reasonable request when necessary to verify published findings. Where possible, authors are encouraged to make research data publicly available through appropriate repositories to support transparency and reproducibility.

Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

JCSEI follows COPE guidance for post-publication updates. When errors or ethical concerns are identified after publication, the journal may publish:

  • Corrections (Errata or Corrigenda)
  • Expressions of Concern
  • Retractions
  • Editorial Notes

Such actions are undertaken to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

Confidentiality

Editors and reviewers shall treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents. Information obtained through peer review shall not be disclosed or used for personal benefit.

Appeals and Complaints

Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a detailed justification supported by evidence. Appeals are independently reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief or an appointed Editorial Committee. Complaints regarding editorial processes or publication ethics are handled fairly, transparently, and in accordance with COPE Core Practices.

Ethical Oversight

Research involving human participants, personal data, animals, or sensitive materials must comply with recognized ethical standards and institutional review requirements. Authors must provide evidence of ethical approval where applicable and confirm that informed consent has been obtained.
